“Two Men and A Truck” and Samaritan House Partner for a Great Cause

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is a woman-owned international company and the nation’s largest franchised local moving company. Across the system, women are in key leadership roles and were the inspiration behind the national spring campaign, Movers for Moms — a donation drive centered around collecting essential items for moms in need who are living in or being supported by local women’s shelters.

For the past 10 years, franchises across the country have been collecting donations to be distributed to local women’s and family shelters in time for Mother’s Day. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Virginia Beach has partnered with Samaritan House for this event every Mother’s Day since they opened in the Fall of 2013.

With 20 donation sites spread out across the city of Virginia Beach, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Virginia Beach was able to collect over 4,000 items for donation to Samaritan House this past Mother’s Day! Donation sites were local businesses such as Tidewater Mortgage, Kempsville Natural Bodyz Gym, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, Anytime Fitness Sandbridge, 1701 (a Virginia Beach co-working space), various schools in the Virginia Beach Public School system, and many more.

The relationship between TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Virginia Beach and Samaritan House is not limited to the Movers for Moms campaign. In fact, the two organizations work together year-around. People will often reach out to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Virginia Beach with furniture they would like to donate but they aren’t sure what to do with. After receiving these calls, the move consultants immediately call Samaritan House to coordinate a new home for the furniture.

To some it may seem like Samaritan House needs TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Virginia Beach, but it is a mutually beneficial relationship. The two organizations easily flow together to help coordinate and raise awareness. Melody Sanders, Shelter and Volunteer Manager for Samaritan House, has worked closely with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK since the inception of the partnership.

“Samaritan House is beyond grateful for our partnership with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Virginia Beach. Our staff, the clients we serve, and the donors who donate to us are treated as valued customers. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s team, from the office staff to the drivers and movers, are always professional and courteous. The customer service they extended to everyone involved with Samaritan House events or moves are superb,” said Sanders.

It is safe to say, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is making a positive impact in the Hampton Roads community.
