Whether you choose to sign up as a monthly donor, make a one-time contribution, or donate your time or items to Samaritan House, you are making a tremendous impact by helping families in crisis in Hampton Roads.
Our needs change throughout the year, and the best way to be alerted of specific, urgent client needs is by following us on Facebook.
There are some items that we always accept, as they are the most helpful for the majority of our clients at any given time. See the list below for our general item wish list!
Items with an * are most needed by our clients. When possible, we ask that bedding and towel donations are new items.
Gift cards to Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Farm Fresh, and Kroger are always greatly appreciated, as they are utilized to purchase work uniforms, basic household items, and supplement our Nutrition Assistance Program.
Our on-site Donation Department is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is located at our main administrative office at 2620 Southern Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA (off 264 at the Lynnhaven North exit). The department is staffed by volunteers during these times. Please park and unload in the designated spot located at the left hand side of the main admin building. Call the front desk at (757) 631-0710 with any questions. Please note that currently, we cannot accept donations of used toys, towels, bed linens or undergarments.
For large or heavy items, please call the Samaritan House partner Thrift Store City Pick Up Service at (757) 583-7211 to schedule a pick-up of your items. Thrift Store City will accept donations of clothing, kitchenware, shoes, pictures, flat screen TVs, knick-knacks and collapsible metal bed frames.
** Thrift Store City can no longer accept donations of beds, mattresses and foot boards/headboard, china cabinets, entertainment centers/armoires, tables without chairs and servers/buffets.**
