SUPPORT PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Samaritan House provides safe emergency housing and wraparound support for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and homelessness. Among the support services we offer are the following:
24-Hour Hotline (757) 430-2120
Trained intake professionals are available 24/7 at our crisis hotline for individuals affected by violence and their family members/friends to provide support, information, and advocacy. Information regarding medical care, law enforcement, and magistrate/court accompaniment for protective orders is also available. Our hotline staff is able to walk victims of violence through the process of safely planning to leave an abuser. Calling the hotline number is free and confidential. Whether you are ready to leave immediately or need advice on how to safely leave at a later time, Samaritan House is here to help
Case Management
Helps program participants access transportation, food assistance, counseling, health care, vocational training, and employment for those that are eligible.
Housing Services
We provide immediate and secure refuge at one of our emergency shelters. Our Housing Now program continues to guide program participants through the rental process to help them transition to permanent housing by signing a lease on their own, securing their independence.
Legal Advocacy
Assist program participants with safety planning, protective orders, and navigating the legal system.
Children’s Programs
We provide family counseling, art and play therapy, and academic support for children exposed to violence.
Therapeutic Services
Samaritan House offers regular individual/group counseling, a support group, as well as art enrichment, equine therapy, and trauma-informed yoga to help program participants create a path to healing. We offer a weekly, open, support group for all survivors of domestic/sexual violence. You may learn more HERE.
Food Pantry & Clothes Closet
Program participants have access to our on-site food pantry to supplement meals. In addition, “Patricia’s Closet” is also available so program participants and their families can obtain or replace needed clothing.
Community Education & Outreach
The Education Department offers presentations to schools, students, religious organizations, businesses, and community groups about domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
