Landlord and Property Owner Program

Samaritan House works closely with many property owners and landlords throughout Hampton Roads to safely house our program participants. There are many benefits to partnering with Samaritan House's Housing Department, including the following: 

  • Reducing cost to your business: Working with Samaritan House can save you vacancies as well as advertising and eviction costs. Call us when you have a vacancy and we can match you with a prospective tenant. We work hard to ensure that our program participants have access to support and resources to maintain their housing and we can also serve to mediate with tenants we place with your property.     
  • Financial Risk Reduction: Samaritan House can alleviate some of the risk renting your property by providing financial assistance to program participants. Most program participants are eligible for deposit assistance equal to two-months rent and time-limited subsidies to ease their transition to new housing as per an outlined 12-month lease agreement.  
  • Mediation: If any problems arise, call Samaritan House. We care about the relationships with our property owners and landlords as much as we do with our program participants. Program participants are assigned a Case Manager that assists with overall housing stabilization, offers support and information regarding tenant and landlord responsibilities and is available to help mediate if problems arise.  
  • Tenant Support Systems: All program participants receive case management services depending on their individual needs. Services include assistance with personal budgeting, finding employment, connecting with resources, maintaining good tenancy, housekeeping, general maintenance, being a good neighbor, etc. Our Case Managers also conduct regular home visits to support program participants. 
  • Paperwork Reduction: If you are familiar with other rental assistance programs such as Section 8, you know how much paperwork is involved and how much time it takes to process between application approval and lease signing. Samaritan House has a streamlined process that can get an approved applicant into a unit within one week. 
  • Satisfaction from Helping Others: We believe that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live. By housing our program participants, you are playing an integral role, not only in helping individuals and families take charge of their lives, but also making our community a better place to live.
